An Autumn inspired blackbird, handbuilt in modified epoxy resin over an aluminium armature with ink tints over metal leaf and a gold leaf beak (23.75 carat gold leaf).

This dynamic blackbird has steel legs and is set into a beautiful piece of Northumberland Sandstone (provenance Ladycross Quarry & Nature Reserve, all stone is hand quarried by hammer and wedge – no explosives are used). This type of base is formed using an aqua jet water cutter which shows the distinctive sediment lines. The stone has been sealed and varnished and has a makers mark on the underlying oak disc. The trio of discarded snail shells have been strengthened and varnished.
